I am building new house and currently starting with electrical work, idea was to use KNX protocol when I found freebus. It is great idea and I would like to build it for my home. I plan to incorporate it with LinuxMCE. I have read guides about KNX/EIB, and have basic idea how it works The current idea is to have all modules at the central location with binary inputs and use momentary switches to control them. Please help me to choose the right equipment so I can order PCBs. It would control 6 blinds, 20 lights (+ HVAC in the future). The electrical system is starting from a scratch so I can customize it. My idea is to start with this (+LinuxMCE): -8-fach Relais-Aktor 230V~ 10A (3pcs) -for lights -8-fach Binäreingang 230VAC (4pcs) -for swtiches -4channel blinds actuator (2pcs) -for blinds -Serielles Interface - FT1.2 for LinuxMCE connections -Power supply (I havent found PCB?) Is this all I need for start? And few more questions: -what are FB controllers for? Do I need them alongside LinuxMCE? -should I go for binayinputs or EIB switches? What are the advantages of switches over binary inputs? Please help a beginner to make a good starting decision. |

you need for every application a controller board. 8-fach out needs a controller you can choose here between the lpc or avr controller. For the basic functionality both controllers are equal. I personally use the avr controller and it runs very stable here. For the power supply I suggest buy an original one. |

What about commercial products? They have embeeded controllers? Does it mean I need controller for every binary input and every actuator? Or one controller for whole house? |

hello max, you need a controller for 8 inputs. you need a controller for 8 outputs. look at hardware menu to check the stuff. If you want a shutter, you need 1 lpc controller brd and the out8 bord. The out8 pcb is the same as for blind&shutters, but you solder different relays on the bord. Look at software stuff to check out what is ready(functions). do not use the pcb serial interface. To drive ft1.2 for PC connect, use the LPC Programmer and a normaly controler bord. The reason is the newer transmitter circuit. If you can aid PCB yourself i have supply choke circuit for you, so you need only a 24V DC supply. greetings Andreas |

You need for every application board, 8-out, 8-in and all the other one controller board. The app board does the power site, the controller is the brain which connects the application board with the bus. |
